Boy, 7, dies in water incident at Raglan

A seven-year-old boy who went missing in the water at Ngarunui Beach at Raglan this afternoon has died.

Coastguard and Police were called to the incident at about 3:30pm, police say in a statement.

A rescue helicopter was deployed to conduct an aerial search of the area.

The child was found in the harbour at about 5pm.

Emergency services attempted to resuscitate the boy but were unsuccessful.
