Body of swimmer discovered in Nelson river

A body has been discovered in a river in Nelson this afternoon.

The body was found by a member of the public in the Matai River, near Nile Street, at 1.15pm.

Police believe the person had been swimming in the waterhole before the accident.

Efforts are underway to recover the body from the scene.
