Auckland's peak-hour trains hit by 'track fault' at central hub

August 16, 2019
Auckland, New Zealand - May 26, 2013: People walk beside a MAXX train at platform in Britomart Transport Centre on May 26 2013. It designed to serve up to 10,500 passengers during the peak hour in its current configuration as a terminus

Train services across the Auckland network have been hit by what Auckland Transport describes as a track fault at Britomart station at peak hour this evening.

Auckland Transport said trains were delayed or cancelled, in a statement on social media at 5pm.

It said maintainers were onsite attempting to resolve the issue.

Fifteen minutes later, AT posted that the track fault has been fixed and "recovery" was in progress.

Commuters have been told to expect delays as services return to schedule.
