Sir Peter Jackson says he would 'love to see' Mortal Engines sequels ahead of film's NZ release

The film is released in Kiwi cinemas on December 6.

Sir Peter Jackson says he would like to see follow ups to Mortal Engines ahead of its New Zealand release in December.

Sir Peter penned the screenplay along with his wife - screenwriter Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens, with Kiwi Christian Rivers directing.

Speaking to 1 NEWS' Kate Nicol-Williams, Sir Peter, who also helped produce the film, said he would "love" to see the rest of the series made.

The movie is based on the award-winning book series by author Philip Reeve.

New Zealand will soon be the first country to show the Hollywood blockbuster, directed by Peter Jackson.
