Piers Morgan launches broadside at Meghan Markle for 'acting her way to the top', ignoring him after meeting Prince Harry

British journalist and television presenter Piers Morgan has launched a scathing critique of Meghan Markle, accusing the Duchess of Sussex of "acting her way to the top" and saying his experience when he knew her was "not great".

The host of ITV's breakfast programme Good Morning Britain was speaking during a discussion on the show about reports of a rift between Prince Harry's wife and her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, who's Prince William's wife.

Meghan Markle, a former actress on the US TV drama Suits, married Prince Harry in May.

Morgan said he knew Meghan Markle for about a-year-and-a half and got on really well with her.

"Then bang, she met somebody more important, immediately ghosted. I never heard from her again," Morgan said.

"The old slippery slope ladder had gone up," he continued. "She'd social climbed her way out of my orbit.

"So my experience wasn't great, I've got to be honest with you."

"And everything I've seen since I'm afraid it slightly does smack of an actress, a Hollywood actress, seizing her chance and acting her way to the top."

However, USA Today reports, Duchess Kate appeared to be genuinely enthusiastic about her sister-in-law and her pregnancy last week during a walkabout with Prince William at the University of Leicester in central England.

"It's such a special time to have little kiddies," she told a well-wisher. "And now a cousin for George, Charlotte and Louis as well! It's really, really special."
