Superstar musician Ed Sheeran plays the first of his three shows in the southern city tonight.

Ed Sheeran mania has swept into Dunedin with over 100,000 people expected to flood into town for his three concerts at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

The influx has led to busy roads and a struggle to find accommodation.

Earlier today a crash on State Highway 1 blocked a major route from Christchurch to Dunedin, causing travelling fans some anxious moments.

Sheeran is in Dunedin ahead of three shows starting tonight at Forsyth Barr Stadium, and two more on Saturday and Sunday nights.
