Critically acclaimed TVNZ series Wellington Paranormal returning for second season

Created by Taika Waititi and Jermaine Clement, the show will premiere next month.

TVNZ's acclaimed mockumentary comedy horror series Wellington Paranormal will be back next year with more supernatural activity on the streets of the capital.

The What We Do In The Shadows spinoff was a hit with audiences and critics in its first run on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ OnDemand this year.

In 2019 there will be 13 new episodes of paranormal phenomena, sending up the classic police series in a way New Zealanders can identify with.

A release from NZ On Air says funding of up to $5 million has been set aside for the second series of Wellington Paranormal.

An air date for season two has yet to be decided.

TVNZ's Director of Content Cate Slater says: "We had a fantastic audience response to first season of Wellington Paranormal.

"We’re really excited to be bringing officers O’Leary and Minogue back for 13 more episodes. We know viewers are going to love all the supernatural antics that are coming their way.”
