Anika Moa was crowned Huawei Mate20 Best Presenter for Anika Moa Unleashed

TVNZ people and programmes have won 14 categories at the Huawei Mate20 New Zealand Television Awards.

It was a night of celebration for the News and Current Affairs team, with 1 NEWS taking out Best News Coverage and Jehan Casinader being crowned Reporter of the Year for his work on Sunday.

TVNZ 1 Breakfast presenter Hayley Holt was also announced Woman’s Day Television Personality of the Year winner, won by public vote.

Drama, reality, comedy, factual and web series made by local production houses to screen on TVNZ also took out top awards at tonight’s ceremony.

TVNZ OnDemand’s Baby Mama’s Club took out the NZ On Air Best Web Series and Anika Moa was crowned Huawei Mate20 Best Presenter: Entertainment for Anika Moa Unleashed.

Topp Country took out two awards including Best Lifestyle Programme and Best Director: Documentary/Factual (Felicity Morgan-Rhind) and Coast New Zealand won NZ On Air Best Factual Series.

The Casketeers took home the award for Best Original Reality Series and My Kitchen Rules NZ was crowned the Stage & Screen Best Format Reality Series, while Waka Huia took out Te Māngāi Paho Best Reo Programme.

Fresh from its four-award sweep at this month’s Huawei Mate20 New Zealand Television Craft Awards, The Dance Exponents - Why Does Love? took out a further award at tonight’s gala: the Images & Sound Best Feature Drama.

Also in the drama category, 800 Words star Rick Donald was crowned Best Actor and animated series Thunderbirds Are Go won Best Children’s Programme.
