TVNZ Highlights 20-26 June
Get naughty with Anika, this week on TVNZ!
Anika’s Naughty Shorties
Stream from Sunday 21st June on TVNZ OnDemand
When mistakes happen on a set, or things go off-script, it often leads to hilarious and insightful moments that we never normally get to see.
But, Kiwi singer and funny woman Anika Moa, is about to give Shortland Street fans a treat by sharing some hilarious, often unfiltered chats, with some of the cast of New Zealand’s favourite drama series.
Having walked the halls of Ferndale a number of times, Moa took us behind the scenes and sat down with the cast about some of the biggest moments, the tears and the triumphs in A Beginners Guide to Shortland Street, which screened earlier this year on TVNZ OnDemand.
This brand-new special, Anika’s Naughty Shorties, will give fans an exclusive and hilarious insight into what happened when the cast thought the cameras weren’t rolling!
Unafraid to ask the hard questions to the likes of Chris Warner (Michael Galvin), TK Samuels (Ben Mitchell), Cece King (Nicole Whippy) and Damo (Grant Lobban) to name a few, fans will be treated to a true insight into life in Ferndale.
It’s all the bits that were just too naughty for network television - packed full of silliness, swearing and sexual innuendo! You have been warned...
Sunday 21st Junue, 8.30pm on TVNZ 1 & streaming now on TVNZ OnDemand
The Luminaries comes to a dramatic ending with Anna being tried for murder. With new evidence emerging, will it be enough to expose Lydia and Carver’s crimes and save Anna?
Filmed entirely in New Zealand, the series is based on the Man Booker Prize-winning novel by Eleanor Catton, who also wrote the screenplay for the adaptation.
The Twilight Zone

The Twilight Zone anthology series returns, bringing the original show's legacy of socially conscious storytelling to modern-day audiences. Executive producers Jordan Peele and Simon Kinberg’s modern re-imagining of the classic TV series continues the legacy of socially conscious storytelling. The series’ second season uses introspection and self-exploration to usher viewers into a dimension filled with endless possibilities.
The new season stars the likes of Joel McHale, Billy Porter, Gillian Jacobs, Chris Meloni and Daniel Sunjata.

Rhys Darby’s journey across Japan comes to an epic conclusion this week as our intrepid comedian and adventurer sets out on the trip’s final leg. We have watched Rhys become a samurai and mascot, we’ve seen him sumo wrestling and indulging in Japanese cuisine, so how will he end his enchanting trip?
In this week’s final episode, Rhys rides in a Dekotora (decoration) truck up to the icy north, attends a glorious snow festival, visits the city of Utsunomiya which is known for gyoza dumplings and an interesting hybrid human/dumpling statue, and visits cherry blossoms in Okinawa.

How To Look Good Naked
Wednesday 24th June, 8.40pm on TVNZ 1
Our favourite super stylist and body confidence expert Gok Wan has spent the series lovingly guiding pairs of best friends, mothers and daughters, and sisters on a journey of body acceptance using his unique style of therapy. In the season finale, Gok meets mother and daughter Nicola and Brogan.
After having six children, Nicola no longer recognises the body she sees when she looks in the mirror. She is desperate for Gok to help her find who she is, beyond being a Mum. Twenty-one-year-old Brogan feels her lack of body confidence is down to the fact that she was bullied from the age of 12. Having spent the last nine years wanting to blend into the background, Brogan no longer wants the bullies to dictate the way she sees herself.
Gok takes the pair on a journey of self-discovery to prove that getting naked can be a wonderful step towards loving ourselves.
