Congratulations to all our TVNZ 2019 BAFTA nominees
Killing Eve, Mrs Wilson, The Little Drummer Girl and more are up for awards for excellence in British TV!
Quirky spy comedy-drama Killing Eve leads the charge in the 2019 BAFTA TV nominations, with 14 nods – more than any other series.
Up for several acting awards, including nominations for Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh, who play the assassin Villanelle and the MI5 agent tasked with hunting her down, the series is also nominated for Best Drama Series, Best Writer: Drama for Phoebe Waller-Bridge and several craft awards.
BAFTA bent its own rules to allow Killing Eve to be eligible. Made for BBC America, Killing Eve first aired in the U.S., a fact which could have excluded it from eligibility for the awards.
But the BAFTA committee agreed the drama was a British series first and foremost due to a “significant contribution from key UK talent throughout the production.”
The winners will be announced in a ceremony on Sunday 12 May, while the craft award winners ceremony will take place earlier on Sunday 28 April.
