Shows You Might Have Missed: The Twilight Zone
Each week, we take a look at some of our favourite shows that might not have made it onto your radar.
60 years since it first debuted, iconic sci-fi show The Twilight Zone is back with more freaky fables, terrifying twists and star power.
For fans of classic horror, The Twilight Zone occupies a sacred space in TV: an anthology series, each episode tells a cautionary tale of an individual trapped in a twisted web of their own making -predicaments which often veer into the supernatural.
Rebooted twice since the original series debuted in 1959 – in the mid-1980s and the early-2000s – The Twilight Zone is back for 2019 with a fresh batch of sinister stories and maudlin morals, as well as some thrills and chills along the way.
Originally created and presented by Rod Serling, the 2019 reboot sees Oscar-winning horror mastermind Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us) take the reins, assuming on the role of showrunner, writer and host.
Starring a bevy of famous faces including Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation), Greg Kinnear (House of Cards), Allison Tolman (Emergence), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick), Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon a Time), Steven Yuen (The Walking Dead), Ike Barinholtz (The Mindy Project), John Cho (Star Trek), Tracy Morgan (30 Rock), Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids), Seth Rogan (Knocked Up) and Zazie Beets (Atlanta), The Twilight Zone is a return to the glory days of one of TV’s most beloved sensations – and a chilling glimpse into the weirder ways of the world.
The full season of The Twilight Zone is available now on TVNZ OnDemand.
