Shows You Might Have Missed: Project Blue Book
Each week, we take a look at some of our favourite offbeat shows that might not have made it onto your radar.
Based on a real-life investigation undertaken by the US air force in the 1950s and 60s, spooky Sci-fi drama Project Blue Book will convince even the most stubborn of sceptics that the truth is out there.
When Dr. Josef Allen Hynek, a college professor and astrophysicist, is employed by the US air force to investigate paranormal phenomena, it is in the hopes that his educated eye will explain away the mysterious events happening daily throughout the United States and put public fears to rest.
Yet as Dr. Hynek finds, not every problem has such an easy solution and it soon becomes clear that the truth is in fact out there - even if various forces, including his own superiors, would rather it stay hidden.
Starring TV legend Aidan Gillen (best known for his roles in Game of Thrones, The Wire and Queer as Folk) and based on true, top secret investigations conducted by the United States Air Force from 1952-1969, Project Blue Book is a captivating and compelling look at the real-life mysteries that emerged in the paranoia of the Cold War era – and one that will have you questioning everything you thought you knew about the universe.
The full season of Project Blue Book is available now on TVNZ OnDemand.
