2018's New Blood winner, Kura

TVNZ’s New Blood competition is evolving. In 2019, we’re combining New Blood Webseries Competition and Talent Lab forces to create one development programme known as, New Blood Creators Lab.

Creators Lab? Tell me more…

The Creators Lab is a development initiative that looks to give emerging storytellers an opportunity to pitch and develop their digital content idea, with the potential of advancing their project to funding stage. There are two development rounds each year.

At the start of each round, applicants are invited to submit a two-to-three page proposal in response to a genre-specific Request for Proposal (RFP). Once all the props are in, they are then assessed by a TVNZ panel and a shortlist of seven or eight projects is created.

Successful applicants are then required to attend the Creators Lab Workshop where they will learn skills to help progress their project to full proposal and sizzle reel. During the workshop, participants will be paired with an industry mentor who will help guide each project through the development process. Each project will receive a grant of $2,500 NZD to help with the creation of the proposal and sizzle reel.

Once the prop and sizzle reel is submitted, the final stage will be applicants pitching to a TVNZ panel where at least one project per round will receive production funding.

When does this all kick off?

The first development round kicks off early next year – which is where you come in.

For this round we’re looking for digital ideas that fall into the COMEDY GENRE. Deadline for proposals is 4pm on January 14th, 2019.

This sounds like me, how do I find out more?
