Who? Australian actor Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black) plays the new caped crusader! She is joined by Scottish actor Dougray Scott (Mission Impossible II) as her father Jacob, Reign’s Rachel Skarsten as villain Alice and UnReal’s Meagan Tandy as her ex Sophie.

Why? Not only is the series breaking new ground with the first openly gay superhero, but it’s also helmed by some of the best in the business. From the CW, who are responsible for Arrow and The Flash, the series is in safe hands with Vampire Diaries writer Caroline Dries and All American executive producer Greg Berlanti.

When? Premieres Monday 7 October 7pm. New episodes weekly.

Why? It’s a supernatural horror with a Kiwi twist set over one night as Sam unearths a horrifying mystery – and it’s right in time for Halloween!

When? Full season available Thursday 17 October 12pm.

The Movies

The Movies

What? These are the stories of the films we love, told by the A-list Hollywood stars who made them. From Casablanca to Fight Club, these are the pivotal moments of American cinema that have influenced our culture.

Who? A more apt question might be who isn’t in this incredible doco series? As well as being produced by Tom Hanks, it features interviews with an extensive roster of stars: Sharon Stone, Alec Baldwin, Robert De Niro, Holly Hunter, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph and Angelica Houston, just to name a few.

Why? Whether you’re a fan of 60s classics like The Graduate or 80s blockbusters like Back to the Future (or both!), The Movies covers the cinematic moments that were the most important to us. Split into decades from Hollywood’s golden age to today and packed with stars, this pacy and nostalgic series has something for everyone.

When? Full season available Tuesday 22 October 12pm.

The Walking Dead's Daryl and Carol

The Walking Dead season 10a

What? Our favourite zombie drama is back for its 10th season – and this year is promising to be just as exciting and unpredictable as usual. We don’t know a lot about what’s coming, but we can confirm that The Whisperers will be back and Negan’s out of prison – both of which will shake things up for our band of survivors!

Who? Andrew Lincoln may be gone from TWD universe, but the rest of the cast is back again. Daryl (Norman Reedus), Carol (Melissa McBride), Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) are all returning.

Why? If you’ve been with The Walking Dead since the beginning, then season 10 is a no-brainer! Plus, one of our favourite characters (no spoilers) is reportedly leaving this season and we are curious to see how that one plays out.

When? Season 10 premieres Monday 7 October on TVNZ 2 and OnDemand.

Daniel Ezra in All American

All American season 2

What? In season 2 football State Champion Spencer James will have a tough decision to make. Torn again between his affluent lifestyle in Beverly Hills and his home in South LA, Spencer will have to choose between playing for Coach Billy Baker or his father Corey James.

Who? All the big players are back for season 2, led by British actor Daniel Ezra as Spencer and Taye Diggs as Coach Baker.

Why? If you’ve never watched, think The O.C. meets Friday Night Lights. While NFL may be Spencer’s life, it’s the drama that happens off the field that makes this US teen drama one to watch! If you need to catch up or want to start from the beginning, season 1 is available now too!

When? Season 2 premieres Tuesday 8 October 7pm. New episodes weekly.

Legacies

Legacies season 2

What? We’re heading back to the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted for season 2 of this Vampire Diaries spin-off. In the first episode, Hope will still be stuck in Malivore, with only Landon and Alaric realising that someone important is missing from the school.

Who? She may be lost in Malivore but Danielle Rose Russell, who plays Hope, will definitely be back for the new season. There will also be newcomers to the cast including Thomas Doherty as old-world vampire Sebastian, Alexis Denisof (Angel) as British Professor Vardemus and Bianca Kajlich (Dawson’s Creek) as Sheriff Mac.

Why? This season is looking to be just as addictive as the first with a possible love triangle between new siblings Ethan and Maya and tribrid Hope and maybe even a cameo from one of the cast of The Originals. We have our fingers crossed for Caroline (played by Candice King)!

When? Season 2 premieres Friday 11 October 8pm. New episodes weekly.
