About Iain Armitage - the star of Young Sheldon
Learn more about the little guy with a big talent.
At the age of just nine, Young Sheldon’s Iain Armitage is quickly becoming a household name.
Comparable to his character, (the show’s namesake, Sheldon Cooper), Armitage is a bit of a prodigy himself.
He first appeared on the entertainment scene a few years back, as a YouTube theatre reviewer. By the age of six, Armitage had already gone viral.
More recently, he played Ziggy Chapman, in the award-winning HBO series Big Little Lies. Armitage starred alongside big Hollywood names such as Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon.
Needless to say, viewers were expecting big things from his performance in Young Sheldon.
Creator of the show, comedy genius Chuck Lorre, said “he’s clearly a remarkable talent.”
The show’s producers knew Armitage was perfect for the role, after receiving a homemade audition tape from his mother.
The show premiered to mixed reviews, but there’s one thing everyone can agree on. Armitage perfected the portrayal of the brilliantly-awkward boy genius.
Rumour has is that he could become the youngest male Emmy nominee in history.
Variety magazine also named him in their “Top 10 Actors to Watch” this year.
Armitage is no stranger to the spotlight. His father is Euan Morton, of Broadway fame. Of his son’s success, Morton says it couldn’t have happened to a nicer kid. “He’s kind and generous. He isn’t selfish or mean, and he’s never had a tantrum in his life.”
Passion for the theatre runs in the family, and Armitage attends as many live shows as he can.
When he’s not acting, he lives in Virginia with his family. He also practices Tae Kwon Do, and is an accomplished tap dancer.
This rising star doesn’t have his sights set on Hollywood though… when he grows up, Iain wants to be a world-famous magician…
