Will & Grace: Everything you need to know about the new season
There’s a wedding, a divorce, and plenty of celebrity cameos coming in 2018!
One of the big storylines of the new season will be Karen and Stanley divorcing – even after she called off her affair with Malcolm Widmark (Alec Baldwin).
"Stanley is divorcing her — it's not Karen's choice," Megan Mullally told The Hollywood Reporter. "Can you imagine? You think it’s bad now? Wait until she gets divorced, all hell breaks loose."
Alec Baldwin will also be returning to the series but it’s uncertain how many episodes he will appear in.
A wedding (or two)
There are two weddings possible in 2018! Will’s mum and Grace’s father (played by Blythe Danner and Robert Klein) announced their plans to get hitched at the end of last season. So Will and Grace will actually be brother and sister!
Then Jack accepted a marriage proposal from his new lover Estefan (Brian Jordan Alvarez).
But will both couples make it to the altar? We’re not sure yet…
A new love interest
Grace’s new love interest Noah will be played by David Schwimmer. Debra Messing, who plays Grace, says Noah is completely different to Schwimmer’s Friends character Ross Geller and that he “really pushes Grace’s buttons.” Whether for good or bad, we’ll have to wait to find out.
Meanwhile, American Horror Story star Matt Bomer has joined the cast as a possible love interest for Will.
A new job
After having something of an existential crisis in the season finale, both Will and Grace are expected to find new jobs this year. Grace will reportedly enter politics, while Will finds a new passion in teaching.
An alter ego returns
Karen’s alter ego Anastasia Beaverhausen will make a return in the new series. This was confirmed by the show’s co-creator Max Mutchnick in a tweet showing Karen in disguise with the caption “Anastasia Beaverhausen is in the haus!”
A lot of celebrity cameos
David Schwimmer, Chelsea Handler, Minnie Driver, oh my! Read about all the celebrities appearing in the new season right here.
Yep, that’s right! Will & Grace has already been confirmed for another 18-episode season, which will be the third of the revival but the 11th in total.
Megan Mullally says she’d stick around for more too, whether we like it or not (and we probably will)! “I want to run the show into the ground, to the point where when the show comes on, people are throwing things at the television. That’s how long I want to do it.”
The new season of Will & Grace starts Wednesday 17 October at 8.30pm on TVNZ 2.
