About The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War is a 10-part, 18-hour long documentary series that constructs a ground up view of the conflict that took place in Vietnam.
The series sets the scene by briefly touching on the First Indochina War that was fought for Vietnam’s independence from France. The rest of the series continues with the Second Indochina War, or what was commonly known as The Vietnam War.
Each episode covers a period of time. They can be viewed as standalone documentaries, or can be viewed one after the other to piece together a full picture of the controversial conflict.
The documentary is ten years in the making, with directors Ken Burns and Lynn Novick pulling together hours of footage from the war, including some that has never been seen before.
The filmmakers included real-life accounts from over 80 witnesses. Their aim was to share the perspectives of those on all sides of the conflict.
Accompanying the harrowing footage and true stories is an original musical score crafted by Trent Reznor, of Nine Inch Nails fame and his long-time collaborator Atticus Ross.
