Meet the passionate Funeral Director who is the star of The Casketeers
Francis is the Managing Director, Chief Operations Officer and Senior Funeral Director at Tipene Funerals.
He hails from Pawarenga, Northland and discovered his calling more than 13 years ago with his first job at an Auckland funeral home.
His passion for the job blossomed and now Francis and his wife Kaiora run their own very successful funeral directing business, Tipene Funerals, with busy branches in Onehunga and Henderson.
Renowned for his guitar-playing ability and beautiful singing voice, Francis leads every funeral with aroha, dignity and precision.
Francis is also fluent in te reo which he learnt at Te Wananga o te Takiura (Maori Training College).
It’s a 24-hour, 7-day a week, year-round operation but Francis says “it’s all worth it, because I’m proud to be a Maori and also to be a Funeral Director for our people”.
Francis and Kai have four sons Nikora, 12, Moronai, 10, Mikae, 3, and Mihaka, 2. Francis is also father to 16-year-old Haimona and says 3-year-old Mikae is showing the most promising signs of following in his footsteps as a Funeral Director.
