Ripeka is a netball enthusiast, a politics aficionado, and a believer in social do-gooders. It’s these qualities that have enabled her to tell Māori stories as a senior journalist for Te Karere.
Ripeka has previously worked for Te Kaea and Native Affairs for Māori Television, and Story for MediaWorks. She says it isn’t a glamourous job, but she’s privileged to have covered stories with people from all walks life – from Te Hapua to Bluff.
Her career highlights include breaking the story of Te Puea Marae housing the homeless in Auckland, and succeeding in pushing the NZ Herald to change its Te Reo Māori policy.
Ripeka works in the Tāmaki Makaurau and Waiariki regions.
