Trustee of Māori trust is accused of stealing close to $1 m
A trustee jointly accused of stealing close to a $1 million from a Māori trust has entered a plea of not guilty at the Auckland District Court today.
Stephen Henare, 60, is facing the theft charge after alleged irregularities as a trustee for a Forestry block known the Parengarenga 3G Trust.
The SFO alleges close to $1 million was transferred to the accounts of Henare and his sister Margaret Dixon.
Dixon also faces the same charge but failed to appear in court today.
Henare was remanded on bail and will reappear on May 23.
