Thousands took to the streets of Auckland's CBD reiterating the call for a pay increase, better work conditions and more resourcing for schools.

The protest goes far and wide across Auckland and throughout New Zealand.

The main objective for the protest is for an increase in pay, Jordan Kaie Māori representative for NZEI Te Riu Roa says they are facing an array of issues.

"Kei konei mātou e porotū ana e porotēhi ana. I roto i te tekau tau kua pahure, kua mimiti haere te puna kaiako."

Part of the reason teachers are protesting is for better pay, however many teachers are still using money from their own pockets to purchase resources for their classrooms.

Kaie is hopeful that the Government will listen and they will achieve their set goals.
