Te Tuinga Whānau Trust in Tauranga offered a group of women new hope by teaching those new skills.

Yesterday, the women graduated, and some have already been placed in permanent homes.

Some of the women were mothers who suffered from poverty and homelessness.

The programme Whare 4 Whānau is 12 weeks long and it teaches basic skills in budgeting, better parenting, Māori culture, genealogy and uplifting themselves as well.

Te Tuinga Whānau says they will run the programme again for more mothers soon.
