This year, the Returned Services Association has declared the theme for the Poppy Day appeal is: not all wounds bleed, pointing to the mental wounds suffered by servicemen and women.

Willie Apiata holds the Victoria Cross and is one of the ambassadors that support this year's theme, to make the community aware of the mental health issues that plague service personnel and their families.

He says the theme is about remembrance.

“Poppy appeal and ANZAC Day is just not just about remembrance, it's about those who still need to continue to support that are here at home, and away overseas.”

Lest we forget.
