Controversial Australian tennis bad boy Bernard Tomic has received an offer of help from an unlikely Kiwi sportsman.

NRL star Benji Marshall has reached out to the tennis player after Tomic made comments where he hinted at suffering from depression on a reality TV show.

“I hope he has the support that he needs. It gets hard being in the spotlight and I’ve been there. I don’t know Bernard, but I’m always here to talk if anyone needs it.”

The incident is yet another turbulent event in the 25-year-old's life, with Aussie Davis Cup Captain Leyton Hewitt confirming Tomic is unlikely to represent Australia again.
