Whirimako Black is one of the headline acts for a jazz concert this weekend that focuses on mental health issues.

The Matariki Starlight Jazz Concert is organised by June Hayes who had the idea to organise the Whānau Walk for Wellness campaign to raise awareness for mental health and mental health carers.

Hayes says a seasoned tramper could walk from Te Reinga to the Bluff in four months, so that's how long the Walk for Wellness  campaign will run, and people can walk whatever trail they want.

To support the Whānau Walk for Wellness campaign, Hayes has also put together the concert today in Auckland that features Whirimako Black, Allana Goldsmith and others ,all of whom have experienced mental health issues in their lives.

Hayes says the goal is to let people know that no matter what they are experiencing, they are not alone.

Tickets for the Matariki Starlight Jazz Concert, which will take place at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, can be found online.
