Māori Television’s Head of News and Current Affairs Maramena Roderick has resigned.

It's the second major announcement today concerning the broadcaster following the news that the company is also looking to cut 15-20 jobs in a 'strategic refresh'.

In a statement, chief executive Keith Ikin says they are ‘very sad’ that Roderick made the decision to step down.

“She has been responsible for leading significant changes in the newsroom and across the organisation.”

Ikin also adds that Roderick supports the proposed strategic refresh and “continues to support the future direction of Whakaata Māori”.
