Māori artists feature in 2018 APRA Silver Scrolls shortlist
The shortlist has been announced for the 2018 APRA Silver Scroll Awards for excellence in songwriting.
That shortlist also features Māori artists Troy Kingi and Marlon Williams.
Kingi is already well known in the industry as an actor, singer and kapa haka performer.
This will be the second time Williams has gained a finalist spot and sings in an alt-country style.
The APRA Silver Scroll Awards is regarded as one of the highest music awards in New Zealand music and previously awarded artists include Dave Dobbyn, Lorde and Brooke Fraser.
It has also been announced that the night will be hosted by music legend and TVNZ presenter Anika Moa.
The other three shortlisted artists are Elizabeth Stokes, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Chelsea Jade.
The awards evening will take place at Spark Arena, Auckland on Thursday October 4.
