New Zealand Rugby has appointed Ngāti Porou and Tūwharetoa descendant Luke Crawford as its Māori advisor.

Crawford is no stranger to the organisation, as he has been a Māori cultural advisor and kaumātua for the Māori All Blacks on a part time contracted basis.

His latest appointment is set to support the Māori Rugby Board and help grow cultural competence within the organisation.

Crawford previously worked at Statistics New Zealand, and before he held senior roles with the New Zealand Police.
