The finalists of the Halberg Awards, which honours and celebrates sporting achievements by New Zealand teams and coaches, are out and our NZ Women's sevens team are once again, leading the pack.

Sevens stars Portia Woodman of Ngāpuhi descent and Sarah Goss of Ngāti Kahungunu, as well as Te Aitanga a Mahaki's canoeist Lisa Carrington, are three of the four athletes nominated for Sportswoman of the year.

The Black Ferns and Carrington have also been nominated for team of the year award while Ngāi Tahu's Holly Robinson has been nominated for the disabled sportsperson award.

The awards will be held February 8 at Spark Arena, Auckland.
