Government recommits to smokefree NZ 2025 goal
It was World Smokefree Day yesterday and the latest stats show that 85 % of New Zealanders don't smoke.
However drilling down to Māori and Pasifika smoking rates makes for more sobering reading.
22% of Pacific Islanders and 33% of Māori smoke on a daily basis.
The government says it's committed to the ambitious goal of NZ being smokefree by 2025. It says it's developing an action plan to help us reach the target.
