Fiji has been crowned the inaugural Hamilton Sevens champions.

The fortunes of the Melanesian masters were a stark contrast to the All Blacks Sevens who, after a promising start, faded at the business end of the competition.

Things were going well, and then they started going downhill.

The All Blacks Sevens battled against the Fiji Warriors with everything they had, but they couldn’t defend the attack of the eventual champions.

They still made it to the third and fourth playoff against the Wallabies, but to no avail.

This is the second competition in a row All Blacks Sevens have missed out on finals and it’s worse given the fact it was a home tournament.

The teams now head to Las Vegas for the fifth leg of the HSBC Sevens Series; they are currently sitting second on the table.
