Earth Warrior to LinkedIn Goodwill Ambassador
By Te Karere
She calls herself an earth warrior and with the New Year now well underway Kiri Danielle believes this is set to be her biggest year to date.
She’s been made a LinkedIn Goodwill Ambassador for sharing a video cleaning this stream in Mangere East over a year ago which reached more the 500,000 views.
Danielle elaborates on her call with a producer from Discovery Channel by saying, “I kite tētahi o ngā kaiwhakahaere o te Discovery Channel ki au i runga i a Pukamata. I waea mai ki au ki te whakakaha i a au - ko te tino ngako o taua tūnga he tūnga mō te ngākau pai.”
One year ago Kiri came and cleaned the stream; one year on they are still finding waste.
According to Danielle they are finding mostly plastic and food wrapping and she asks, “Ko te nuinga he kirihou, ngā mea mai te kai, ka kai ētahi ka whiua te para i Papatūānuku, ka mau a Tāwhirimatea ka nuku haere te para ki te wai kātahi ka rere ki te moana - ko te tino pātai he aha kāore i konei?”
Danielle put the call out there yesterday for those interested in coming to help and with one call there was a response.
Danger Wiparata was one of those who responded and says, “We got a call from the bro to come down and help out, do some community hours and help out.”
And Danielle’s statement to the nation, “Toitū te whenua, toitū te wai, toitū ngā tangata i runga i a Papatūānuku.”
People pass away, but the land remains.
