Twelve young people have been selected to attend a United Nations conference in New York with Doctor Lance O’Sullivan's Moko Foundation.

The announcement was made after several hundred video applications were submitted via social media.

The Moko Foundation ran a 48-hour campaign to originally choose two candidates to travel with them to The US.

With over 300+ applications, successful applications were extended from two recipients to 14.

With all flights and accommodation covered, the only prerequisite for those wanting to partake in the two-week trip was a passion to advocate indigenous Māori issues.

The conference will take place from April 13 to 22 in New York City.
