A Christian rally descended on parliament grounds yesterday afternoon.

The group is urging speaker Trevor Mallard to reinstate Jesus into the opening prayer that's recited at the beginning of each parliamentary session.

Supporters of the change say references to Jesus don’t reflect our multicultural nation.

The prayer was given in parliament yesterday afternoon, with no reference to Jesus.
