The Chiefs are preparing for their hit out of the year in a preseason trial against the Blues.

The Waikato-based franchise has a new coach and a sprinkling of new players.

It’s been 10 years since Colin Cooper last coached a Super Rugby team, but in that 10 years, he led Taranaki to an ITM cup and has also led the Māori All Blacks.

Fin Hoeata has joined the team and he’s regarded as one of the squads rising stars and is the younger brother of Māori All Black Jarrad Hoeata.

Brad Weber has come back following his knee injury last year.

He’s excited about making his return to their field, and to play inside his good mate Damien McKenzie.

The Chiefs are set to lay the Blues on Friday.
