Ceremony to remember the centenary of WWI held at Pukeahu National War Memorial Musem
Returned soldiers, defence force personnel and members of the public witnessed a sombre occasion last night at Wellington's Pukeahu National War Memorial.
The 1000th daily last post ceremony took place to mark the centenary since the First World War.
To mark the occasion, the stories of five servicemen including rifleman Horatio Beechey who died on yesterday a hundred years ago were read.
Besides the playing of the Last Post, one minute's silence will be observed and the Ode of Remembrance was read in both Māori and in English.
