Lisa Carrington has once again claimed the K1 200m canoe national title.

The Te Aitanga ā-Māhaki descendant and world champion was the hot favourite but the level of competition was high.

The world under 23 world champion Aimee Fisher, Caitlyn Ryan and Kayla Imrie, all tipped to be the sports rising stars were in the race, pushing Carrington to the limit.

Carrington says it’s all about the sport.

“The other girls are doing just so well. You have to come back here expecting to race world class. So we have to, which is really awesome for the sport."

The win means Carrington has booked herself a spot for the world championships in Portugal in August.
