The Black Ferns Sevens team has been named for the first tournament of the 2018 season.

Coach Allan Bunting has made two changes to the team that finished fifth at the Dubai tournament in December.

Shakira Baker and Terina Te Tamaki are back in the squad.

And Sarah Goss of Ngāti Kahungunu says they are building for the Commonwealth Games in April.

“Last season started last year in Dubai so with I suppose that a little disappointment, we were able to regroup over the summer, focus more on what we're going to do in Sydney and then to be able to move forward in to the Commonwealth Games, the rest of the World Series and the World Cup in July. So we've got quite a big pinnacle of events coming up and so we've got to be prepared mentally and physically for all of those tournaments.”

The squad depart for Sydney next week.
