Australia’s first nations triumph over Māori league teams
The First Nations of Australia have gone two from two over the Māori in the first Festival of Indigenous Rugby League.
The Wāhine Māori fell 18-0 to the First Nation Gems in a physical matchup.
But it was the Gems superior ball handling that was the telling factor in the final result.
In the men’s match, NZ Māori started off strong against the Goannas but couldn’t quite keep up, falling 22-16.
Following on from the success of this event, organisers are hoping to attract NRL contracted players next year.
