The man who allegedly shot at police last month in Morrinsville has pleaded not guilty to three charges of attempted murder at the High Court in Rotorua.

Rollie Heke was arrested last month after a two-week long manhunt.

Heke appeared via audio visual link and faces three charges of attempting murder of a police officer, possession of a semi-automatic firearm and possession of ammunition.

He also faces a charge of failing to stop and two charges of possession of equipment to manufacture methamphetamine.

Four others have been charged with being accessories after the fact of attempted murder and also pleaded not guilty. 

All defendants were remanded in custody until November.

A trial date has been set for October next year at the High Court in Hamilton.
