Rhod Gilbert, Kerry Godliman, Phil Wang, Greg Davies, Alex Horne, James Acaster, and Jessica Knappett

Now in it's seventh season, the comedy challenge show can only get nuttier.

With past seasons daring contestants with such assignments as ‘do something manly with a cardboard box’ and ‘remove a £5 note from underneath a pint glass without touching it’, expect more crazy antics, zany missions, and non-sensical scoring.

So who are this season's brave volunteers?

Meet the comedians:

James Acaster

A regular on the international comedy circuit and a repeat performer at the New Zealand international Comedy Festival, James has developed a reputation internationally as one of the funniest, and most distinctive young comedians of his generation.

With his whimsical sense of humour, James is sure to be more than a match for even Taskmaster’s most peculiar assignments.

Jessica Knappett

Best known as the creator, writer, executive producer and star of comedy Drifters, Jessica has acted in The Inbetweeners Movie and Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, makes regular appearances on panel shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats and contributes to publications such as The Guardian and The Independent.

Jessica Knappett and Alex Horne

Married to an air guitarist, Jessica is no stranger to the wackier side of life and should not be underestimated as a Taskmaster contender.

Phil Wang

Best known for appearances on TV comedies like Live at The Apollo, Have I Got News For You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, and Drunk History, British-Malaysian comedian Phil made his Kiwi debut at this year’s New Zealand International Comedy Festival with his show Undefined.

The youngest participant of this year’s Taskmaster, Phil is cool, calm and collected – but can he stay that way?

Kerry Godliman

A staple on comedy shows like Live at the Apollo, Celebrity Pointless, 8 Out of 10 Cats andSpoons, Kerry has also carved out a formidable acting career performing in Miranda, Extras, Derek and Getting On.

Straight-talking and quick witted, Kerry is firmly unflappable – an asset in this battle of the bizarre.

Rhod Gilbert

A former Market Researcher, Welsh Comedian Rhod gave it all up to try his hand at comedy in 2002. The rest, as they say, is history.

With appearances on tv shows like Mock of the WeekHave I Got News For You? and QI, Rhod also spent eight seasons hosting his own hit TV show, Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience, in which he tried his hand at a variety of odd jobs – perfect experience for the antics of Taskmaster.
