Sunday – The Secret Stopover
Sunday 27 May
The secretive state of North Korea is considered by many to be the worlds most repressive regime nukes, famines and human rights abuses under the cult-like leadership of the Kim family. But for almost a decade a small group of New Zealanders have been quietly slipping in and out of the country, building ties that are the envy of diplomats. Their work has gone largely unnoticed until now. This year SUNDAY was granted extraordinary access to North Korea, to parts of the country no foreigner has ever been, and to witness an unlikely collaboration that could end up saving the worlds migratory shore birds.
