Laurel was born in Christchurch, but moved to Whangarei when she was eight years old.

Laurel's father was an actor, and she was interested in theatre from a young age.

A few years after graduting high school, Laurel attended Toi Whakaari NZ Drama School.

Her first big role was a solo play called The Upside Down of the World. She performed it all over New Zealand, as well as in New York and Edinburgh.

More recently, Laurel starred in an adaptation of The Doll House.

Laurel describes herself passionate, impulsive, and a little hot-headed, much like her character Kate.

Outside of Shortland Street, she enjoys yoga, cycling, singing, and hanging out with her family.
