Where did you grow up?

I was born in Christchurch on a beautiful summer’s day around about lunchtime. I'll never forget it, the Daffodils were in full bloom. The ducklings bobbed along the Avon River in the twinkling sun. That was a huge day for me.

I grew up mostly in the garden city, and also a few school years in the wonderfully wild west coast town of Greymouth

How long have you been acting and how did you get your first big break?

I started out in the comedy industry back in the 90’s. A friend and I used to perform a comedy duo in Christchurch. We did sketches and songs and had a lot of fun. We eventually split to pursued solo comedy careers but remain best mates.

My first professional acting job was when I landed the lead role in a TV commercial back in 2001. It was the first time I had ever audition for an ad and got it. I couldn't believe it! That was a great learning experience and gave me the confidence to keep going down that track.

Name three similarities between you and your onscreen character.

We both wear pants, breath air and have no qualms with a steak and cheese pie for breakfast

What are your hobbies/interests outside of SS?

Getting my gumboots on and doing a bit of work around the place. Sourcing easy to peel mandarins.

What do you do in your down time during the day when you’re not shooting?

Linger around the fruit and veg section at the supermarket, hoping to be recognized and asked to a party.

Do you have any pets?

A goldfish. I took him on a road trip with me around the South Island last January in a giant water cooler bottle. Being the holiday season I couldn't find anyone to feed him for me every day. I swear he loved every minute of it.

Who is the actor or actress that you look up to or admire the most?

Honestly I look up to all the actors. There is something I can learn from them all. It's been a privilege to get to know them.  So many wonderful people working tirelessly behind the scenes too that deserve a lot of praise, I admire them very much.

What is the thing you enjoy most about going to work every day?

A travel coffee. Sometimes a cheeky sausage roll. Classic hits turned up to 10.

What has been your favourite scene to film in your time at Shortland Street?

Probably some of the first ever scenes I did, with Michael Galvin. damoisadick123.

Do you watch Shortland Street at home? If yes, is it strange seeing yourself on television or are you used to it?

Hey look, I only watch it when I'm on.

What is your favourite food?

Caesar salad with extra anchovies. Actually hold the salad, just a bowl of anchovies thanks.

What’s the best experience you’ve had with a fan/fans?

I was at the gas station and got back in the car after paying. I noticed a guy pointing and yelling at me from the footpath. I would describe him as a cast member straight from Sons of Anarchy. I got very nervous, wondering how I had upset him so much. He rocked up to the car and vigorously insisted on shaking my hand. He said "great f***ing dancing man!!" Thanks dude you made my day.

What is your favourite television programme and/or film of all time?

Lawrence of Arabia.
