Mike Hosking is a New Zealand television and radio broadcaster and commentator. As well as co-hosting Seven Sharp each weeknight, he also hosts the country’s most popular breakfast radio programme on Newstalk ZB.
Mike's early career was in radio, working at Radio New Zealand in the early 1990s, hosting The Tonight Show with a talkback format. He then went on to co-host Morning Report on National Radio.
Mike was the first host of TVNZ’s Breakfast show, fronting the show from 1997 to 2004. He returned to television in 2008 when he featured on TVNZ's Close Up programme.
He grew up in Christchurch, where he attended Linwood High, before entering radio at the age of 16. He is married to Kate Hawkesby and has a blended family of five kids. He collects wine, but never ask him about it because he’ll bore you witless.
