Para cross-country skiing is about gliding across a snow-covered field in the shortest possible time frame.

The courses range between 800m and 5km which are skied multiple times, depending on the race.

They include uphill, level and downhill fields.

The Winter Paralympic Games has a total of 20 cross-country skiing events for men and women, in standing, sitting and vision impaired categories.

Visually impaired Paralympians participate in the competition with guides who help them with their routes.

The guides ski on the same track, beside, in front of, or behind the Paralympian while guiding them through a communication device.

Sitting category Paralympians use sit-skis and are not permitted to touch the skis with a handle, they must push the ski with their own hands.
