Para biathlon combines two different disciplines.
Para biathlon is a sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting, two very different disciplines.
The sport was adopted as a formal discipline at the Paralympic Winter Games in Lillehammer in 1994.
The Paralympians' start times are staggered by 30 seconds.
At the shooting range, the distance from the firing line to the target line is 10 metres.
The Paralympians must be in the prone position for the shooting competition.
At the Paralympic Winter Games, a total of 18 events are contended by dividing the Paralympians into men and women (sitting, standing and visually impaired) and short, medium and long distances.
Short distance: 7.5km for men, 6km for women.
Medium distance: 12.5km for men, 10km for women.
Long distance: 15km for men, 12.5km for women.
