MKR NZ 2018 contestants, Sindy & Roger

Following some flirting at the work coffee machine, Sindy and Roger became inseparable. Now they run their own construction business together.

Originally from South Africa, Sindy has wowed Roger during their courtship with her great flavours and use of herbs and spices.

Cooking is their passion and they are keen to showcase their “AfroKiwi” cuisine, blending their heritage together through food.

Super competitive and confident in their cooking abilities, Sindy and Rodger’s experience living and working together could give them the upper-hand in the kitchen.

Why did you apply for My Kitchen Rules New Zealand?

Sindy: We absolutely love to cook. I thought it would be fun to apply - and show New Zealand some of the amazing cultural dishes we cook at home with both a Kiwi and African twist. I really didn’t think anything would come of it, but it did, which is super exciting!

What are you most looking forward to showing Pete & Manu in your hometown?

Roger: Beautiful white beaches (which we know Pete will enjoy and possibly catch a wave or two), beautiful seafood and a postcard backdrop of Mount Maunganui.

What’s the best thing about your cooking partner?

Roger: We work very well together both in the kitchen and in business. We complement each other in everything we do and are both very driven people. We constantly help, motivate, inspire and support one another.

What do you think your chances of winning My Kitchen Rules New Zealand are?

Sindy: We think we can win! We plan to win, we practiced to win, and we have hoped and prayed to win.
