Raised in the picturesque Tasmanian countryside, Sarah spent her childhood by the seaside, with a stint in the beachside community of Inverloch in Victoria as a teenager.

One of nine children, Sarah says she was always cooking with her dad, a potter, and she relishes the memory of fishing for mussels and oysters and picking wild mushrooms. 

At 26, Sarah moved to Sydney where she worked in hospitality and later met her husband, Brazilian-born Doug. They are proud parents to Elvis, aged three.

If Sarah has a secret weapon, it may be Doug, who works as a chef. She says she now makes a lot of Brazilian food with punchy, bold flavours and is known to whip up a deadly pisco sour in the bar.

With Doug by her side, Sarah says she is confident to venture into the restaurant business when her MasterChef Australia journey comes to an end. She dreams of a modern Australian menu with South American influences.

When she is not whipping up treats in the kitchen, Sarah likes to sew, play pool and hit the vintage shops.
