Uma Thurman, as Lenny Cohen in Imposters.

Thurman plays the striking yet intimidating Lenny Cohen.

In her opening scenes Lenny gets hits on, persistently, by a seedy guy in a bar. Bad move. She proceeds to break his arm.

At first, Lenny is nothing but a formidable name, a threat used to make sure the Imposters scam team stay on track.

But it turns out she’s an assassin of sorts, who reports to the mysterious, all-seeing ringleader, The Doctor. She's sent to whip Maddie into shape when she gets distracted.

“You don’t want to see me do my job,” she says to Maddie. “Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.”

The rest of the cast were in awe, working alongside the Oscar-nominated actress.

“I’m such a big fan. I have such deep respect and appreciation for this woman, and there she was right in front of me,” said Inbar Lavi, who plays Maddie.

“I have a wonderful scene with Uma, which felt completely surreal, like an out of body experience. There was electricity everywhere in the room.”

We can all agree that she's likely to bring some trademark fierceness to the show in future.

There's no escaping Lenny Cohen.

It seems like the role of Lenny was practically written for Thurman. The mysterious, thick-skinned, no-nonsense killer, who could possibly play it better?

Turns out she goes way back with Imposters' creator, Adam Brooks. The pair became close, when Thurman moved to New York as a teenager.

When the show was given the green light to go ahead, they were celebrating together, and Brooks suggested he write a part for his friend.

And so, Lenny Cohen was born.

Imposters has already been renewed for a second season, and word on the street is that Thurman will be returning as a guest star.
